Dr Britto, a qualified Doctor of Medicine, is a recipient of the Bal Chintoba Prize in Forensic Medicine. He has been accorded the status as a Specialist in Psychiatry by the General Medical Council (GMC) under the European Specialist Qualifications Order 1995.
Dr Britto works and practices a branch of medicine - Psychiatry. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Socrates Psychology Services Huddersfield, Psychiatric Claims Advisor to the Healthcare Insurance Provider Vitality Health UK, undertakes medico-legal clinics at the Birkdale Neuro Rehabilitation Centre in Alperton, West London and at Socrates Psychology Services Huddersfield. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for Anxiety UK and the Managing Director for Britto Healthcare Limited. He has previously worked in several roles: Force Consultant Psychiatrist to Merseyside Constabulary, Liverpool from 2001 to 2017, Consultant Psychiatrist at Cygnet Hospital Bierley Bradford from 2006 to October 2019 and held Consultant Psychiatric posts in the NHS in Shropshire and West Yorkshire UK from 1995 to 2006.
Dr Britto devotes his time to working with acute and chronic mental health problems endured by the Working Age Group population. This ranges from diagnosing and treating anxiety, depression, stress, schizophrenia, bi-polar affective disorder, Border-line Personality disorder, drug and alcohol addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder and such related psychiatric disorders. Having established a growing private practice since 1997, he also devotes his time to working with solicitors, employers and courts as an expert witness in psychiatry since 1997.
Dr Britto's 32-year experience as a psychiatrist has been gained from a wide variety of roles in both NHS and private sector, including working with the legal profession. He has worked in a range of acute adult mental health services, community mental health teams and medical liaison teams in the UK. He is trained in the provision of medical and psychological interventions for mental health problems that include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Dr Britto participates in annual appraisals, is up to date with Continuing Professional Development requirements, regularly attends training to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field and has been revalidated by the General Medical Counci to continue practice as a doctor.
